Axcel Africa Releases Its 2025 Annual Report Summarizing a Year of Action and Co-Creation

Axcel Africa has released the “Axcel Africa Annual Report 2025 – A Year of Co-Creation and Execution Connecting Japan and Africa.” This report provides a comprehensive overview of our activities throughout 2025.

The achievements of 2025 would not have been possible without the support of companies, government institutions, and partners in Japan and across Africa; our colleagues who worked side by side with us on the ground; and the many people who have watched over and supported our challenges and efforts.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported Axcel Africa’s activities throughout 2025.

From Discussing Concepts to Executing on the Ground

In 2025, Axcel Africa moved beyond merely discussing ideas and potential. It was a year in which we executed our concepts on the ground and translated co-creation into concrete outcomes.

This report systematically documents the processes and results of how we, as a hands-on partner connecting Japan and Africa, have engaged in business development, human resource development, and partnership building.

[Feature] The Current State of “Co-Creation” Highlighted by TICAD9

This feature focuses on the current state of “co-creation” as presented at TICAD9, explaining how public–private collaboration between Japan and Africa has evolved and in which sectors concrete business opportunities are emerging.

In addition to covering overall trends at TICAD9 and key points of the Yokohama Declaration, the report provides a detailed account of Axcel Africa’s own initiatives during the conference period, including booth exhibitions, hosted seminars, participation in themed events, and our efforts that led to the signing of 22 MOUs.

[Column] Africa Moving Forward in an Age of Uncertainty

This column examines how Africa’s economy and business landscape evolved in 2025 amid a highly uncertain global environment, combining macroeconomic data with firsthand insights from the field.

Rather than viewing Africa as merely a “market with potential,” the column presents a perspective of Africa as a “real business field where proof and implementation are already advancing,” and summarizes key insights looking ahead to 2026 and beyond.

Putting Business Development, Talent Development, and Community Building into Practice

The report introduces practical examples of field research and business development support in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, cleantech, and human resource development, including cases that leverage Japanese subsidies and public support schemes.

It also reflects on initiatives aimed at building the foundation for talent and challenge, such as software engineer training programs for African youth, on-site training programs for university students, and activities centered around the Nairobi-based community house “JENGA.”

“Hands-On Partnership” That Goes Beyond Research and Proposals

What we most want to convey through this report is Axcel Africa’s consistent commitment to a “hands-on partnership” approach that does not end with research or proposals.

We enter the field, test hypotheses, support businesses as they begin to move, nurture people, and walk together until those efforts lead to the next challenge. This report documents the accumulation of those practices.

By viewing Africa not as a “future possibility” but as a real business field that is already in motion, Japan and Africa can create value together on an equal footing.

We hope you will feel the frontline practices and lessons of this journey through this report.
